Welcome

Welcome to Into Deep Water, a weekly reflection on the human condition and its illumination in the incarnate Word.

Why Into Deep Water?

Because Jesus invites each of us — as He once did Simon, weary after a night of fruitless effort — to “put out into the deep for a catch” (Luke 5:4-6).

Within every human heart, the Lord “reveals deep and hidden things” (Daniel 2:22). This newsletter is an attempt to explore those depths: the tensions, longings, sufferings and hopes of the human condition — in light of the Word made flesh.

Each Monday morning, we’ll set out together in search of the face of the Lord, reflecting on Scripture, suffering, joy, and the beautiful mystery of being human.

The first reflection drops on Monday morning. We’ll begin in Matthew’s Gospel and go passage by passage.

My prayer is simple:

That you’ll find encouragement along the way, and that together we’ll be at wonder in the Word.

Thanks for joining me,

Ted

Here’s what I’m reading this week

In The God of the Garden, singer-songwriter and author, Andrew Peterson, reflects on the presence of God in the natural world and in the quiet, formative moments of life. Blending memoir, theology, and lyrical prose, Peterson uses the metaphor of trees and gardens to trace his own spiritual and creative journey — from childhood to adulthood — and to explore how creation bears witness to God’s care, beauty, and redemptive work.

If now isn’t the right time for a paid membership, I’d be grateful if you shared Into Deep Water with a friend who might find it meaningful. Thanks!
